The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is responsible for stewardship of Provincial Crown land and natural resources, and protection of B.C.’s archaeological and heritage resources. Overseeing a land base of 94.8 million hectares, the Ministry supports the sustainable management of forest, mineral and land resources, the prosperity, viability and competitiveness of industries that use them, and public access for a wide range of activities such as hunting, fishing and recreation. The Ministry is responsible for policy development, operational management and implementation, and oversees over 50 statutes and associated regulations.
The Business Administration Officer supports multiple lines of business, potentially in multiple locations, and provides a program management / program lead role. This position participates in, develops and delivers on leadership projects and acts as the subject matter expert for financial and administrative knowledge for the district. This role is accountable for the efficient and effective delivery of administrative services including lands, forests and/or water authorizations and permitting, financial management and reporting, administrative processes, asset management, supervision, and client service within the natural resource sector business lines.
Qualifications for this role include:
A degree or diploma in business administration, financial management or public administration or the equivalent combination of related training and experience.
Seven (7) years’ experience in an administrative position including experience in one of the following: performance or budget management, administrative services, office management or facilities/technical services.
Experience in financial management such as: accounts payable/receivable, financial planning and analysis, financial forecast, budget development or budget monitoring.
Preference may be given for three (3) years’ experience supervising more than 2 staff, including developing and evaluating performance goals, coaching, team-building, and mentoring.
Valid B.C. driver’s licence.
