Temspec is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of heating and cooling equipment for the North American school and condo/resort markets. Temspec manufactures products with a high degree of customization and our growth has required us to introduce a full time HR position. We are currently seeking a Human Resources Generalist who is interested in creating structure in all of the key HR areas. 


Job Description

Reporting to the President, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the daily activities of the Human Resources function. There are no direct reports for this position. The successful candidate needs to be able to work and manage the challenges of a diverse, manual labour environment.   We offer a competitive compensation package and reward top performance. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and Selection: All responsibilities related to this area.  The company does require an individual who can manage a high volume of recruitment activities in order to ensure the production team has adequate staffing levels.
  • Performance Management and Orientation/On-Boarding: Must develop and coordinate the performance appraisal process and coach managers and supervisors on conducting effective performance interviews.  Is responsible to facilitate the company orientation program.
  • Health & Safety:Responsible to act as a manager rep on the JHSC and to ensure that the company is in compliance with the related legislation.
  • Employee Relations and Training: Responsible for responding to escalating employee inquiries and troubleshooting employee’s issues or concerns ensuring optimum employee relations. Managing employee training requirements and performing/coordinating trainings as required.
  • Advisory Support: Advises and consults with the President on Human Resources issues, policy development and decisions.  Must ensure the company is in compliance with applicable employment-related legislation.
  • RWT Administration: Responsible for Return to Work program coordination and documentation
  • Disciplinary Actions: Working with Supervisors to effectively and fairly respond to disciplinary situations in accordance with company policies and procedures. Maintenance and training of those policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management
  • CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) designation or actively pursuing their designation
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience across several HR disciplines in a similar role; recruitment & selection, employee engagement, orientation and on-boarding, health & safety and employee relations
  • Preferred:  Hands-on experience processing payroll and/or experience auditing payroll calculations
  • Advanced computer skills; Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet applications, HRIS etc.

  • Ability to work cohesively with all employees and managers/supervisors as part of a team
  • Self-starter, self-motivated and ability to work independently
  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills

  • A hands-on HR Professional who has an innate ability to deal appropriately with political incorrectness and a demonstrated commitment to the company’s management philosophy and goals
