Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, and as a member of the broader HR team, the Advisor performs a wide range of functions in support of HR services within a fast-paced environment. The position works with confidential and sensitive information requiring sound judgment and insight.  The Advisor fulfills a consultative role to management and employees on topics such as training and development, recruitment, compensation, benefits and terms and conditions of employment. The Advisor maintains processes relating to existing HR policies and assists in the research, development and implementation of new policies.

As an area of speciality, the Advisor supports the Manager with a significant range of corporate training and development initiatives including determining needs, developing workshops, providing support on programming to staff/management and evaluating vendors & corporate programs. In addition to this area of speciality, the Advisor is involved in a high volume of strategic recruitment for client groups which is a primary focus for the organization over the next several years.


Must have:

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience and a relevant post-secondary degree or equivalent

  • Working level understanding of employment legislation and the HR industry

  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail; ability to compile and analyze data sets

  • Ability to multi-task and seamlessly change priorities when required

  • Proficiency and confidence when dealing with a diverse range of professionals in a proactive and confidential manner; supported by effective communication skills.

  • Service-minded attitude and sensitivity to differing cultures with an ability to effectively build trusting working relationships and provide advice to management and employees (e.g., employee relations)

  • Strong experience in training and development such as conducting and evaluating a needs analysis, implementation of and management of a learning management system, vendor selection and management

  • Considerable experience in a range of strategic recruitment to support client groups.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing strategies to address a range of human resource plans and emerging issues.

  • Relevant experience with succession planning activities, benefits administration and risk management

  • Certified HR-related designation preferred

  • General understanding of the investment industry preferred
